Our Story
Founded in 2010 by longtime friends and Vancouver residents Devon Bray and Thomas Poffenroth, Loowit Brewing Company now underpins a revitalized downtown Vancouver, Washington and has become a significant force in the Southwest Washington beer scene. Loowit began brewing commercially and opened it’s doors in 2012 and has since been recognized for excellence with many awards for it’s beers. In 2016, Loowit Brewing won a Silver Award at the prestigious World Beer Cup for Grimlock Porter, a Bronze medal for Shimmergloom Imperial Stout at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival and a Bronze medal for Grimlock Porter at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival. Our Head Brewer, Landon Smith, joined the ownership team in 2021 and continues this tradition of brewing excellence.
Since opening in 2012, we have led the effort to put Vancouver, Washington on the map as a destination for discerning craft beer fans. We have been at the forefront of developing a culture of craft beer in Southwest Washington and have had an undeniable impact upon the region through contributions to the community and the local brewers guild.
In 2017, we opened our first pub restaurant on site at the brewery in downtown Vancouver. Seven years later in 2024, we opened our first satellite restaurant location, Ole’s Outpost in the Orchards are of NE Vancouver, WA. Ole’s features a large patio and tap list as well as a deceivingly innovative scratch kitchen.
