The Legend of Ole Peterson
Ole was an eccentric pioneer from Clark County’s past. He arrived here from Iowa in the 1890’s and staked out a homestead on the south side of Mt. St. Helens east of Cougar, WA near the Swift Dam.
He was known for his quick wit and the telling of tall tales. Our favorite tale is about the time he claims to have rescued an injured three-legged cougar who lost it’s leg to a bear. He made the cougar a new wooden leg and released it back into the wild. The cougar exacted revenge upon the bear by beating it to death with its new wooden leg.

Little Free Library
Beloved customer Barb is stewarding “Ash & Ale” the Little Free Library here at Ole’s Outpost.
How it works:
Take a book: See something you like? It’s yours.
Share a book: Have a finished read that needs a new home? Leave it for the next pioneer.
Grab a pint: Because every good book deserves a great beer.
Come see us at the Outpost and check out Barb’s handiwork. Let’s keep the stories moving!
